Park Hotel Tartuf

A history since 1820

The Manor House at Pustý Chotár

About the hotel

The manor was built around 1820 by the aristocratic Jesenský family. Today, together with its park, it is a protected cultural monument of the Slovak Republic.

After the Jesenskýs, the manor served as the residence of another aristocratic family, the Sziranyi-Otomos. It was later acquired by Baron Henrik Lindelóf, who at the end of the 19th century substantially rebuilt it into its present form — a two-floor, three-wing building on a rectangular ground plan, with a central bay roofed by a cupola.

Among its precious interior elements is a faience fireplace from the 1890s and ornamental stained-glass windows. The handrail of the main staircase was crafted by the Vienna-based locksmith J. Wagner.

In 1937 the then-owner Dr. Kraus had the side wings removed. The Ďurčanský family owned the manor until 1945, and from 1948 to 1979 it housed the basic nine-year school. Restoration under the heritage authorities began in 1979.

Today the manor is cared for by Ekostavby s.r.o. with respect for its history, cultural events and artistic heritage — including a remarkable gallery of ceramics.
